Fillers for Lines, Wrinkles and Lips

Over recent years, hyaluronic acid has emerged as
the miracle compound for filling in wrinkles.

Hyaluronic acid is a major component of skin tissue,
maintains local moisture content, and is gradually
reabsorbed with time.

It is available from several companies. Juvederm is now available in Canada and is a highly purified hyaluronic acid in the form of a viscoelastic gel. It is transparent,
homogeneous, and has several major benefits:
  • It is of non-animal origin
  • It does not require any prior test
  • The molecule is highly bio-compatible

Juvederm is available in two different concentrations, and is supplied to physicians in ready to use pre-filled syringes. Physicians can select the type of Juvederm to use based on the patient's needs and anatomy.

Juvederm Ultra, the light to mid-density form, is used for more prominent lines, and effectively fills forehead wrinkles, glabellar lines, mild to moderate nasal furrows  and cheek wrinkles.

Juvederm Ultra Plus, the high density type, fills deep nasolabial folds, returns volume to your lips, sculptures your cheeks and gives your face, its natural oval shape again. A follow-up procedure a few weeks after the initial treatment is recommended for some patients to optimize the outcome.

Mild redness and local swelling may develop at the injection site after treatment, but
will generally disappear spontaneously within 72 hours.

Juvederm should not be used under these circumstances:

  • Known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid
  • Diseases affecting the immune system
  • Pregnant or breast-feeding women
  • You should avoid exposing yourself to high temperatures (severe cold or
saunas) for several days following the treatment
